Since the ancient ages, Barburi, is a kind of red grape, unique to the City of Antakya (Antioche) in Hatay-Turkey. In this region, back in the days where it was the tradition to make one’s own wine at home, Barburi was always the choice as its natural terroior is in Antakya (Antioche). Nowadays, Barburi’s flora is very rare and growth areas are limited to mountain regions and isolated areas. Since 2009, as Antioche Winery, we have rediscovered this grape with its real geographical features and turned it back to life. The result is unique to our vineyard. Our goal is to bring out the best characteristics of the Barburi Grape into wine. Our first ever commercial bottling is the Antioche Barburi 2016 Wine and it’s solely produced with Barburi grapes in our own vineyard.
